| President Deena Greenberg | Deena Greenberg, bubbling with smiles and words of encouragement, is a joy to be around at any time of the day. Whether it's running meetings, eating in Falk, or working out at the gym, she gives it her all, and does it with a smile. You might find her in the Hillel lobby with her gym clothes ready to go one hour, and the next see her bristling to a meeting of... well, everyone. With a strong commitment to Hillel and a desire to see the Jewish community at Penn thrive, Deena has internalized the value of dedication. Don't underestimate her just because she has a cute (you know it's true) smile; beneath it lies a determination and intensity that will bring Hillel to ever-further horizons. | | Vice President Talia Kayne
| Talia Kayne hails all the way from Ohio (GO BUCKEYES!!!) This fun-loving girl is currently a senior in the School of Nursing. When she isn’t out saving kids’ lives, you can find her campaigning, biking across Israel, hanging out with her sorority sisters, swimming, or skiing. Her constant smile shows just how incredibly excited she is to be Vice President and serve on Hillel Steering for her second year in a row! | Communications Chair Orly May | Orly May is a junior from Maryland, but don't let that fool you - her Latin blood gives her an exotic twist (both her parents are from Mexico). With a hankering for coffee heath bar crunch ice cream, this Philosophy, Politics, and Economics major once wanted to be a ballerina, but is now aspiring to be a human rights lawyer. She loves having fun, and when she's not hiking, backpacking, snowboarding, or baking (she makes mean brownies!), she can be found lounging around and relaxing. She also has an uncanny ability to make those around her smile with her infectious laugh. When asked what she was most excited for about Steering, she jumped out of her seat, barely able to contain her excitement, and said, "I'm super pumped to be on Steering to make Hillel the warmest, cuddliest place on campus!" | | Finance Chair Zach Roseman | Zach Roseman, a rather friendly fellow, can be found in the lobby of Hillel...from about right after the 8:40 minyan until they kick him out at 11 pm every night. Surprisingly enough, he's not the security guard. The only time when he is not in his special chair (don't you sit there!), you may be able to find him at Shabbatones practice, punching his punching bag, or in econ classes. The 6' 1", shaggy blonde-haired Finance Chair has a killer voice, a killer 3-pointer, and killer anagram skillz. Single? You can find him in AOL chat room #234. | | Education Chair Adam Teitcher | Adam Teitcher is a senior from Oceanside, NY majoring in Neuroscience and Jewish Studies. Adam loves being outdoors and anything musical- so whenever you see him around Hillel (which is pretty much any hour of the day), ask him to show off his mad skills and then treat him to Ben and Jerry's Half Baked (his favorite!). When he grows up, he wants to do something different, but first he is heading to law school. Adam spent part of his sophomore and junior years as OCP co-chair planning events like the OCP Casino Night, Dodgeball Tournament, an Assassins game, and the end of the year Barbeque. He is excited to be part of Hillel Steering and to work with dedicated student leaders and administrators to effectively and positively impact students' lives on campus and thus have the opportunity to do his part to contribute to the Jewish education on campus... and the free food! | | Jewish Life Chair Beth Sussman | Hailing from North Carolina, Beth Sussman has been known to be quite the party girl as the former social chair. But now, this girl just loves life…JEWISH life, that is. Beth is a senior in the college, majoring in Political Science and Communications and Public service. Think that’s multi-tasking? Wait until you see what she does between every Jewish life committee in Hillel – all with a big smile on her face. Beth also loves funfetti cakes, diet doctor pepper (tastes like the real thing), spider solitaire, and trashy novels. She’s always up for a game of “scrabulous” on facebook – so go ahead and friend her! Her goal is 100 new friends a year ;) | | Israel Chair Rebecca Bootin | Rebecca Bootin loves Israel as much as Jewish kids love summer camp. This senior hails from Houston, Texas -- but she doesn't have an accent, she doesn't wear cowboy hats, and she most certainly does not resemble George Bush (W or HW). Both of Rebecca's parents are left-handed, and yet you will only find Rebecca writing with her right. Rebellious, much? One side of her family is Cuban, which makes Rebecca a proud Jewban...or maybe she's Cubish. She spent a year in Israel before coming to Penn and ate a lot of falafel while there. Rebecca is a feisty fashionista who is revved up about Israel, so if you see her on the Walk, shout out a "SHALOM!" | | Social & Cultural Chair Aviva Vogelstein | A junior in the college, Aviva Vogelstein’s wide smile and flowing red hair make her easy to spot in the bubbling Steinhardt Hall. This Baltimorean also truly knows how to have fun – whether its football in the middle of the night, a quest to find free food, or going out with friends, Aviva always knows how to shake things up. But don’t let that dashing smile of hers and friendly ways fool you, Aviva is a fierce competitor. As the only girl on her high school’s boys tennis team, she embraces challenges and excels in almost any game that involves winning – just challenge her to a game of basketball, set, or anagrams to find out for yourself. As the oldest of eight, Aviva is also a caring and loving sister as well as a loyal friend. | | Tzedek Chair Rachel Weinblatt | Rachel Weinblatt may be small in size, but she is one powerful woman. Aside from heading Hillel’s community service group and helping to make decisions for Penn’s largest student run organization (the Jews), she can entrap you with her friendly smile. Don’t be deceived by Rachel’s innocent look, though. She has been known to kidnap students in order to get them to participate in tzedek activities. A native to the city of brotherly love, Rachel brings graphic design, art, and French manicure skills to the crew. She also brings cleanliness, as she will wear a pair of jeans only twice without washing them. When this psychology major is not doing tzedek-ish activities, you may be able to catch her drawing, reading, or most likely of all, knitting. If you can’t find Rachel at Hillel, the next place to look would be the closest Chinese restaurant, as she once famously declared, “I could eat Chinese food every day.” | |
